Our history
Wheatoleo is a spin-off from ARD.
ARD was created in 1989, resulting from a joint initiative of two Farmers’ Cooperatives (Vivescia & Cristal Union) to mutualize the efforts of Research & Innovation to develop sustainable products, solutions & services. Today, ARD has become a worldwide leader in biomanufacturing & precision fermentation and plant fractionation.
Wheatoleo was created in 2010 with initial purpose to build a value proposal relying on 2 main local agricultural resources: sugars from cereals by-products (originally extracted from straw and residual bran) and fatty fractions extracted from oilseeds (rapeseed) and sugarbeet’s residues. Combining such resources led to the creation of Wheatoleo to propose patented biosourced surfactants obtained from a green chemistry process, utilizing such upcycled sugar & oil as feedstocks.
Today, Wheatoleo has developed a wide range of high-performance and sustainable patented surfactants on an industrial scale, serving the Household and I&I cleaning, Personal Care and Crop Protection industries. All products are manufactured in our factory based in France.
